Hmm good point about Vernon possibly being older. Would sort of make sense with why they have a kid too, because you can't convince me everybody had kids in their early twenties.
I forgot about the burning-the-letters bit in the movie! With Vernon's evil laugh, haha.
... I totally forgot where I got my Snilly bit from. But Hagrid sort of seemed to hint at Snape having a special reason to hate James, or something. I dunno.
And yeah I really want to know how much Jo had planned out when she was writing this. It seemed the bare bones were in place, including much of Snape's backstory. But things like ages and stuff, she only filled that in later (and probably Vernon wasn't even important enough to get more than an "uhhh early 30s" :p). And yeah, math and Jo... XD
